Made in the USA Cat Products

Every single Americat Company product, whether it is for cats or cat lovers, is made in the USA from U.S. materials.

The Consumer Reports National Research Center found that 78% of Americans would rather buy a made in the USA product when given the choice between that product and an identical one made abroad. The problem is that even though many cat owners want American-made cat products, they are hard to find.

We are on a mission to change that! Americat Company was born after our founder, Diane, had a hard time finding made in the USA products for her cats, Penny and Bella. This is why we believe in creating made in the USA cat products:

Safe Products

In 2013, Petco recalled stainless steel pet bowls made by an overseas manufacturer, because they contained radioactive cobalt-60. In the U.S., numerous laws, such as the Toxic Substances Control Act, and government agencies, like the Consumer Product Safety Commission, protect consumers from harmful products.

Since our cats eat and drink from their bowls every single day multiple times a day, safety is our top priority. Americat Company stainless steel cat bowls are made in the USA in a facility that also makes healthcare and culinary products. After manufacturing, each batch is tested for lead and radioactive metals by an independent lab that is 3rd party accredited by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Safe Materials

Cats lick, bite, and rub against the products they use every day. Therefore, we think it’s important to use U.S. sourced materials rather than imported parts. All materials that go into Americat Company products from cardboard to stainless steel are also made in the USA.

Lower Carbon Footprint

U.S. manufacturers are subject to regulations reducing pollution in the air, water, and soil. Also, how far products are shipped affects their carbon footprint. Cat products made abroad, for example, must be shipped across the ocean, using a lot of energy and emitting pollution along the way.

All Americat Company materials, products, and packaging are shipped within the U.S. By reducing pollution during manufacturing and reducing the distance that products must travel, made in the USA cat products are generally more environmentally friendly.

Fair Wages & Safe Conditions

U.S. labor laws require a minimum wage and minimum age for employment. They also protect employees’ rights and provide for safe working conditions. There may not be the same level of transparency or regulation when a cat product is made abroad. This problem is particularly rampant in overseas textile factories, some of which are making fabric cat toys and cat apparel.

Americat Company works with a garment company in Los Angeles to create our made in the USA cat t-shirts. Textile makers are paid $12-18 per hour, which is higher than minimum wage, plus benefits and overtime. We take the same level of care in finding all of the manufacturing partners.

Support Other U.S. Companies

By supporting a made in the USA cat products company, you also support other U.S. businesses. As we order more raw materials and make more products, our suppliers’ businesses grow. Ancillary businesses that support us (like accounting, photography, product design, and shipping) are also all hired domestically.

Shop Made in USA

Made in the USA cat products are never the cheapest, because fair wages and manufacturing regulations add cost to our supply chain. But, we believe that the peace of mind in knowing where our cats’ products are made and how they are made, as well as the difference in safety and quality, make made in the USA cat products worth it! We are grateful that thousands of Americat Company customers also believe this. Thank you for choosing American-made cat products!
